Planet of the Apes

French author Pierre Boulle's 1963 novel La Planète des singes, translated into English as Planet of the Apes or Monkey Planet, was adapted in 1968 into the film Planet of the Apes. It told of a post-apocalyptic world in which humans and intelligent apes clashed for control. The film was very popular and very quickly another four films followed. In 2001 the film was remade and some time later there followed a relaunch of the film series.

In 1974 a tv series was also made based on the original film and it stared one of the leads, Roddy McDowall returned as Cornelius who had appeared in many of the films.
