Made in 1975 this American thriller directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the novel by Peter Benchley was considered a game changer for the cinema. Staring Roy Scheider as police chief Martin Brody, he and the shark experts have to hunt down a man-eating great white shark that attacks beachgoers at the summer resort town of Amity Island.

It didn't end there, and subsequent sequels saw more unsuspecting swimmers get swallowed up by the great white.
