Doctor Who

Created by Sydney Newman to fill a teatime slot between sport and early evening entertainment on BBC1, envisioned to last a few weeks and with no bug-eyed monsters, sixty plus years later, plenty of bug-eyed monsters and numerous lead actors, this British sci-fi, time traveling adventure is still going strong.

The basic premise of a stranger from another time and place, in a craft called the TARDIS, scooping up a collection of human traveling companions to take them into danger remains to this day. The trick of regenerating the lead actor allows for constant change and refresh and even in the years when it was off tv screens the Doctor stayed alive in print, audio and on webcasts.

Recently David Tennant returned to the role, playing another version of the Doctor before Ncuti Gatwa took control of the TARDIS. Ncuti's first full series begins in May 2024 and will be available via BBC1, iPlayer & Disney (rest of the world).
